A trust network, not a booking platform

The Portugal Coliving Alliance is an informal founding circle of boutique coliving operators who share a deep commitment to authentic community, nature connection, and quality hosting.

We're not a marketplace. We're a collaborative alliance — built by operators, for guests and the broader nomadic community — to raise the bar for coliving in Portugal and create a unified voice in the tourism ecosystem.

🤝
Collaboration over competition Members share guests, knowledge, and resources across regions
🌿
Values-aligned spaces Every member meets shared standards of community, sustainability, and hospitality
🗺️
Complete Portugal From Atlantic surf coast to mountain valleys to island springs
Our Vision
Make Portugal the leading slow-travel destination for the global nomadic community
A Portugal where remote workers, creatives, and digital nomads can move fluidly between trusted communities — coast, countryside, city, and island — staying longer, spending more locally, and connecting more deeply.
Our Mission
Unite boutique coliving operators to raise quality, extend seasons, and build a joint voice
Through shared standards, coordinated marketing, and collaborative programs — especially in the off-peak winter months — we create year-round value for guests and sustainable businesses for operators.

What every Alliance coliving stands for

These aren't brand guidelines. They're the lived principles that unite our 9 founding members — and what guests can count on in every space.

🍽️
Real community
Shared dinners, present hosts, and genuine connection — not just coexistence.
🌊
Nature connection
Surf, mountain valleys, Atlantic forests, and island landscapes just outside the door.

🏡
Intimate scale
Small, curated communities where you're a guest, not a room number.

Coordinated winter programs
Joint workation offers and long-stay packages across warm-weather regions — tackling the 40–60% seasonal occupancy drop together.
03

04
Joint voice & institutional access
A unified presence toward Turismo de Portugal, press, and the global nomad community — far more powerful together than individually.

Working with Turismo de Portugal to solve seasonal tourism

Turismo de Portugal has identified the low winter occupancy crisis as a national priority with a dedicated program targeting improvement by 2027. The Portugal Coliving Alliance is uniquely positioned to be a partner — and to apply for support funding to scale our impact.

40–60%
Winter occupancy drop
Average seasonal revenue loss across boutique coliving and hospitality operators in Portugal's non-Algarve regions.
8
Alliance spaces ready
Our 8 founding spaces span all Portuguese regions — including year-round destinations like Madeira and the Algarve.
2027
Program target year
Turismo de Portugal's stated goal for measurable improvement in off-peak occupancy across the country.
🎯
The problem we solve together
Portugal's coastal and urban hospitality industry suffers from stark seasonal imbalance. The digital nomad and remote-work travel segment is the single most effective lever to address this — because remote workers travel off-peak, stay longer, and spend more locally.
Remote workers travel year-round, not just in summer
Average stays of 4–12 weeks create sustained local economic impact
Coliving communities generate local spending (food, experiences, transport)
The Alliance spans all regions — from Madeira to Braga
🇵🇹
What we are asking for
We are seeking institutional partnership and budget support from Turismo de Portugal to formalise the Alliance, build Portugal's first certified coliving quality standard, and run a coordinated national marketing campaign targeting the winter nomad segment.
Co-develop a "Verified Portugal Coliving" quality certification
Fund a joint national marketing campaign for winter 2026/2027
Support formalisation of the Alliance as a recognised tourism entity
Include Alliance operators in official nomad-tourism positioning
📊
Why the Alliance model works
Unlike individual operators, the Alliance provides a scalable, measurable, and geographically distributed intervention. Funding us is funding Portugal's entire coliving ecosystem, not a single business.
8 operators across 5 regions — national reach from day one
Shared marketing multiplies impact vs. individual spend
Cross-referral model keeps guests in Portugal longer
Established communities ready to absorb increased demand immediately
📅
Our roadmap toward 2027
The Alliance is already operational. With Turismo de Portugal support, we can scale our impact significantly to contribute to the 2027 targets.
Q1–Q2 2026: Formalise founding circle operations & standards
Q3 2026: Second wave of member invitations — grow to 15+ spaces
Q4 2026: Launch winter workation campaign with institutional support
2027: Certified network, measurable nomad tourism data for Turismo

Solve winter together

Coordinate long-stay workation packages and cross-regional promotions to convert the industry's biggest challenge — seasonal occupancy drops — into a collective strength.
